Guide Specifications
Concrete Coatings, Inc. provides CSI 3-Part Guide Specifications Sections on some of our most popular products.
The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is an organization that maintains and progresses the standardization of construction language as it pertains to building specifications. CSI provides structured guidelines for specification writing in their Project Resource Manual.
CSI authored Masterformat which is an indexing system for organizing construction data, mostly construction specifications. MasterFormat has 50 divisions, which shows the complexity of the construction industry. Eventually, it is thought MasterFormat will assist in the facilitation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to contain project specifications.
The purpose of a specification section is to provide architects with product information which they can include in the project manual that goes out to bid. An architect may work on a project for several months or years, and then provide a project manual to several contractors for a bid. The contractor would see the need for certain product in the spec and call a subcontractor who can do the work.
Concrete Coatings, Inc. will continuously add to its guide specification offering so check back regularly.
